Is Celtic Reconstruction dead? [Nov. 25th, 2012|08:07 am]

Everywhere I have been has had no real activity in two years! What gives? There are some of us that need and want to be taught. We need guidance and fellowship. Where did you all go?

That same old story. [Apr. 23rd, 2012|08:55 pm]
Southern Eastern Celtic Reconstructionists
For about two years now I've been following.. Erm, well attempting to follow a Celtic path. I've been enraptured by the Arthurian legends, by the fey, by the Celtic gods and other such for most of my life. I broke with Christianity awhile back and started following what truly drew me, what I really believe. The only thing is is that our cosmology and our way is in tatters, at least so far as I can tell. I really identify with Helvetic and Gaulish I believe if this helps.

Anyone old to these ways? I'm trying to really root myself and get away from all this eclectic paganism I'm surrounded by, but by Albion, Bitos, and Antumnos I can't seem to escape it. It's everywhere. Would anybody mind sharing what they know and PM'ing me and other such?

How are people holding up this hot, hot summer? I am currently in a discernment period, figuring out if I am to take up formal flamekeeping or show devotion with flame, work, fire, inspiration and healing in different ways (including participation in Burning Man and fire-based crafts).

I live in central, central Florida (Orlando metro) and would love to talk shop and share craic if a pubmeet or park day could be arranged.

I am new to Celtic Reconstructionism/paganism, while I like the nature centric attitude I am not really interested in Wicca or other type religions.  Anyone out there have similar ideas?  Any reading recommendations?  Is anyone interested in a meet-up in the Atlanta area?

Good Books [Feb. 15th, 2009|09:23 pm]
Southern Eastern Celtic Reconstructionists

Hello everyone. I'm new to CR and the like (though I'm doing as much research as I can).
So I have a question. If I could only buy one book pertaining to CR, what would you suggest?
I'm kind of on a limited budget at the moment but I would love some suggestions.

Also, what advice would you give someone trying to learn Gaelic. Books? Websites? Podcasts?

Thank you so much for your help,

Howdy All.
My family and I currently find ourselves in Asheville, NC and are looking for other like-minded souls.  We follow more of an Irish Reconstructionist tradition.  We are both interested in learning as much about the crafts as possible - I'm also interested in the martial traditions.

Lost in Florida [Nov. 10th, 2008|03:27 pm]
Southern Eastern Celtic Reconstructionists

There hasn't been a post in this community for months, so I thought I'd check in...

Our family moved to Gainesville 8 months ago and I have found ZERO like-minded community in this area. No reconstructionists of any kind. I didn't realize how spoiled I had been in Nashville.

Thomas Flannery, are you still active in New Port Richey? Anyone go to Florida Pagan Gathering or similar gatherings in Florida?

Hmm? [Sep. 8th, 2008|02:58 pm]

Ok, this is something I've been wondering on lately. It's widely known how Heathens have Wyrd and Yggdrasil...but what about the Celts? Did they have any similar concepts, or is it something we just don't know? If anyone could direct me to some books or websites, I'd really appreciate it.

Also, are there any sites or books that focus on Scottish Paganism? I've found lots of stuff from Ireland and Wales, but nothing really from Scotland. Could anyone please clear that up for me?

Thanks in advance. :)

Newcomer, with reservations. [Aug. 31st, 2008|11:26 pm]
Southern Eastern Celtic Reconstructionists

Greetings, all. My name is Sarah and lately my interest in CR has increased exponentially. So here I am. :) I live in Union, South Carolina, in a good woodsy area.

Speaking of the woodsy area...I'm wanting to set up some small, outdoor altar spaces for a few deities. I want to make some contact with the local spirits of the area though, to see how they'd feel about it. To be honest, I'm almost frightened at the idea.

Here come the reservations...Collapse )

Edit: Began my first attempt with communing today and it went pretty well. We'll see how this goes! :)
